Assembly and Commissioning
Assembly and conditioning for the commissioning of our entire range of products at voltage levels up to 500 kV and power rating of 250 MVA. Each stage of the assembly process of a transformer is carried out by highly qualified professionals, applying a work plan that has been previously agreed upon with the client.
On-Site Measurements
Carrying out electrical measurements as part of a maintenance and inspection plan for transformers is essential to help locate the causes of defective operations that are not observed with a simple analysis. The data gathered through electrical measurement instruments are interpreted and analyzed by our qualified personnel, who provide an accurate diagnosis.
The main electrical measurements for the maintenance of transformers that can be carried out on-site are:
- Insulation resistance measurement (with polarization index and absorption index determination)
- Ohmic resistance measurement of windings
- Transformer turns ratio test (TTR), polarization, and vector group determination
- Transformer tan delta test
- HV bushings tan delta test
- Sweep frequency response analysis
- Checking and calibration of protections and auxiliary circuits
- Turn ratio test for current transformers (internal measurement transformers)
- Dew point measurement to determine the humidity level in the transformer’s insulation
Maintenance and Repairs
Maintenance
Transformer preventive maintenance is a strategic tool in the management of power transmission and distribution networks. Extreme reliability is demanded of electric power networks, and, although the risk of transformer failure is low, when failures occur, they inevitably lead to high repair costs and long downtime. In addition, transformers are expensive equipment to think replace regularly, and must be properly maintained to maximize their life expectancy.
TTE offers a customized maintenance program according to the transformer park and requirements of each client, which includes, among other tasks: tank inspection, adjustment of connections, loss control, oil sampling for life expectancy estimation tests, control and calibration of monitoring devices, electrical tests, cooling system checks, and oil treatments.
Repairs
TTE has extensive experience repairing transformers and the most common tasks performed include the following:
- Un-tanking and internal inspection
- Disassembly of the active part
- Replacement of windings
- Refurbishment of the core
- Drying of the active part
- On-load tap changer repair
- Replacement of accessories
Physical – Chemical Lab
Oil Analysis
TTE monitors the transformers of many companies and provides a service that may include taking oil samples. In addition to the analyses, we give recommendations about the actions to be taken on the transformers as a result of the evaluation of the parameters obtained. Some of the analyses performed are the following:
- Dissolved gas analysis testing (DGA)
- Furan analysis
- Dielectric strength
- Moisture content (ppm)
- Power factor (Tan Delta Testing)
- Interfacial tension
- Acidity
- Antioxidant inhibitor content
- Particle content
Remaining Life Expectancy
This analysis helps identify highly risky transformers to prioritize intervention actions based on the results of liquid chromatography and the polymerization index. Taking into account the construction parameters of the transformer, the data on the history of its operation, and its functioning, the remaining useful life of said transformer is estimated.
Consulting & Training
Our R&D department advises our clients on the design of transformers based on their specific requirements, offering innovative solutions to each need.
At the same time, we offer different training courses on the design, maintenance, and operation of transformers:
- Operation of power transformers and basic maintenance rules
- Operation control and maintenance of OLTC and accessories
- Oil sampling techniques for testing
- Calibration and check of protections
- Tools for transformer maintenance: Analysis of insulating oils, failure diagnosis, and additional electrical measurements
